About us
AMURT is an international relief and development
organization working in 25 countries. We work with marginalized
people to help them become self-sufficient in the basic
necessities of life: food and water, education, shelter and
healthcare. We broaden the notion of family to include everyone
in need of assistance. We feel that all people should have equal
opportunity to flourish in life.
Kristine Richards, from Blair, Nebraska. She came to Peru in
2000, with a view to teach people and organize and supervise
social service projects. In addition to the Ruruapuk project, she has another two projects. "Machu Picchu Stars" is an employment and life skills project for a group of hearing disabled
women who make hand made dolls and children’s clothes. The other is a Neohumanist pre-school in Los
Cedros, a middle class suburb in Lima, Peru. Kristine began her
career as a registered nurse. She worked from 1984 to 2000 in
Japan, Taiwan, and Brazil running progressive schools.
Web page design - Kristine and AMURT volunteers prepared these web
pages together with Karl of
iConsultancy in order to assist the Rurapuk
collective.
